Aircraft noise is twice what is reported
The Daily Telegraph in Sydney reports this week that noise levels in the northern corridor of Sydney airport are almost double the mandated limits.
This highlights again a common problem across Australian cities, where aircraft operators design operations based on an "ideal", but in actual operation use different alternatives. Generally this results in one group suffering much greater noise levels.
From NoiseNets' perspective, it highlights how important it is to understand the actual measured noise levels and not to rely on the more readily available 'plan' data.
